Happy International Women’s Day! We hope you got to spend some time today with your favourite women or at least reflect on how much of an influence a strong and courageous woman has had on your life! …or maybe that’s you just working away at keeping the ship afloat!
In celebration of today, we wanted to share some of our favourite resources with you:
The BC Women’s Hospital Health Info page provides links to a significant amount of information on a range of women’s health topics from respiratory viruses to reproductive health to complex chronic diseases and chronic fatigue syndrome.
Maryla, Pelvic Floor Physiotherapy
Maryla has been practicing out of our clinic and we are lucky to have her on the coast! She is a specialist in pelvic health physiotherapy and offer’s a range of services for both men and women.
Jan, Registered Dietitian
Jan of Cornerstone Nutrition, who has also been sharing our space with us, is a wealth of information having worked in both hospital and private practice settings on the coast for a number of years. It is SO important that women eat enough of the right things to fuel their bodies, maintain their health, and adapt to the numerous changes that occur over their lifespan.
Although not local to BC (or Canada!), Dr. Sim’s world-class and women-specific health information is easily accessible to everyone and highly recommended – especially if you wish to maintain your good health and physical function as you age! She is famous for her quotes – Women Are Not Small Men and Lift Heavy S*&% – and has the research to prove it. Her books and blog are a wealth of great information!
BounceBack is a free program to help people manage low mood, mild to moderate depression, anxiety, stress, or worry. Although this program is a great option for both men and women, we’ve added it here because there is data to suggest that women are more likely to experience or be diagnosed with an anxiety disorder.
And of course we can’t finish without expressing our love for supporting the hard working women in our community! From collaborating with our multidisciplinary colleagues, going the extra mile to connect you with the services you need, and helping you get back to the things you love most – we’ll do our very best to help your with your performance and life goals!
